The PHILLIPS School, part of the PHILLIPS Programs for Children and Families, Annandale-based Senior Employment Resources and the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter received community grant awards from the Annandale Rotary Club on Wednesday.

Each organization received a $1,500 grant. The three local community service organizations were selected by the Rotary's committee. The awards are given out by the Rotary Club annually and help support organizations in the greater Annandale area.

Sarah Caldwell, development Coordinator, accepted the grant on behalf of the PHILLIPS School, and James Nango accepted the grant for Senior Employment Resources. Thomas Nichols accepted the grant for the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter, which is part of the Chesapeake branch of Volunteers of America.

Thank you to the Annandale Rotary Club for all they do to improve our community! They have a longstanding commitment to helping our children and families in need! The grant for PHILLIPS Programs will go to cover the cost of providing a healthy lunch to our students each day.
