Last week, we ran a story about Tag Day at Annandale High School. Shortly after it posted, I received a few comments on Facebook, Twitter and via email from parents asking to publicize that the Falls Church High School and W.T. Woodson High School bands were also raising funds for Tag Day. The next set of emails I received were from those parents asking me why we don't cover Falls Church or Woodson news.

In the interest of transparency, I wanted to explain why we cover the schools that we do on Annandale Patch.

Prior to the Annandale boundary changes, Annandale Patch boundaries included a total of 14 schools (10 elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools). By now, you know we cover Annandale and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. Falls Church High School should have been included in this list, but that school falls under our neighbor site Falls Church Patch's coverage boundaries. I can and will do a better job at balancing coverage of Falls Church High School on this site going forward. (I apologize to my loyal Annandale readers who visit Falls Church Patch for all of their Jaguar news.)

As a result of the Annandale Regional Study decision, some Annandale students are now zoned for Woodson. Under our system, Fairfax City Patch currently covers Woodson, but this means I now technically have four high schools to cover. If you include Falls Church, Woodson and Mason Crest, the number of schools we should cover is 17. That's a lot of ground to cover.

As readers, you are one of the most invaluable resources to our site. As parents of students at these schools, you're going to hear about events and news that I won't be immediately privy to. You can help us with our coverage in a number of ways:

Long story short—we will make a better effort to include information from Woodson and Falls Church High Schools on Annandale Patch just as we diligently cover Annandale High.
