An Enchanted 'Promposal': 50 Singing, Dancing Friends Help Student Ask His Girl to Prom

Annandale High School senior Paige Britton went to Springfield's Lake Accotink Park thinking she was meeting classmate Justice Garrish's family for a picnic.

It wasn't until Garrish ran away from her that Britton knew something was up.

She soon found herself surrounded by 50 of his friends and family members reenacting a scene from the Disney movie Enchanted, lip-syncing and dancing along a trail to the song "That's How You Know" from the movie.

"I had no idea," Britton said about Garrish's plan to ask her to prom on Memorial Day weekend. "I didn't know whether to stay stand there or move away. The whole thing was so surreal."

Britton's parents told Patch it took three weeks for Garrish to choreograph the scene. The group rehearsed for four hours before the "promposal" took place.

While Britton said she heard Garrish was planning to ask her to prom, she said she expected something more low-key than the promposal.

"I'm kind of shy. But it was really special that he did that for me. It seemed so unreal," said Britton, who added that Enchanted is one of her favorite movies.

When she returned to school, Britton said she was surprised to see her fellow students watching video of the promposal on their phones. Even teachers congratulated her as she walked to class.

"Everyone loved it. I got a lot of nice messages on Facebook," Britton said.

Britton, who plays lacrosse for the Atoms, was recently named the Patriot District Offensive Player of the Year. She plans to attend Liberty University in the fall where she will play Division 1 lacrosse for the Flames.

Ananndale High School's prom is Friday. Britton said she was looking forward to the dance and enjoying the evening — themed "Atoms in Wonderland" — with friends.
