BonChon Chicken Restaurant Leaves Annandale

The popular Korean fried chicken eatery has been replaced with a new, similar restaurant.

Bad news for Annandale residents hoping to get their Korean fried chicken fix: BonChon has left Annandale.

A representative in the BonChon New York headquarters, who declined to give their name, said the BonChon franchise located at 6653 Little River Tpke., Suite H in the Willow Run Shopping Center is no longer at that address. However, the company still lists Annandale as a location on their website. The representative declined to give a reason as to why the franchise left.

A new restaurant, Chi-MC Chicken & Beer, has replaced BonChon, but patrons can expect similar food under a different name. A sign on the door says the name of the location changed January 2013. The note also mentions that the restaurant will undergo renovations for a couple of weeks starting Feb. 4.

According to permit information filed with Fairfax County, the building is still owned by Anna Minyong Kim. A permit was filed last month to change the signage on the storefront to reflect the new name.

Calls to Kim were not returned at the time of publication.

K-town without BonChon.? I think the end might be near. Although the new place has the word Beer in the name does show they have the right priorities.

There was a new Chicken & Beer place in the shopping center with Shilla Bakery and Ill Mee Buffet but that's been closed for months... wonder if it's the same one?

Nope, that was BBQ Chicken and Beer, I don't know if it ever opened but I went to the one in Centreville. Great wings and awesome waffle fries.
