Daily Crime Report: Teenager Allegedly Assaults Police Officer

The following items are from the recent daily activity reports from the Mason, West Springfield, and Franconia Police District Stations of the Fairfax County Police Department.
March 7
Assault, 4300 block of Carmelo Drive (red on map), 3/6/13, 1:30 a.m. Officers were called for a suspicious person. Mohamed Sharif, 18, of Fairfax, was found along with a 17-year-old boy. Following an investigation the officers placed Sharif under arrest. Sharif allegedly fought the officer and fled. Sharif was found in a nearby building and charged with assault on a police officer and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Larcenies
7000 block of Raleigh Road (green on map), generator and gas from residence
March 6
Stolen Vehicles:
6500 block of Little River Turnpike (blue on map), 2011 Chevrolet Impala
March 5
Burglary, 7500 block of Little River Turnpike (red pin on map), 3/4/13, 2:45 p.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole gaming systems games. Entry was made through an unlocked window.
Missing Juvenile, 7600 block of Mcwhorter Place (pink on map), 3/4/13, 9:20 a.m. Officers were called to search for a 17-year-old mentally challenged boy reported missing. The helicopter and a bloodhound responded to assist. The boy was found unharmed several blocks from his home.
Larcenies
6500 block of Medinah Lane (green on map), engagement ring from residence
March 4
Assault/Shopliftng, 8700 block of Little River Turnpike (red on map), 3/2/13, 9:35 p.m. A cashier saw a group of four 18 to 20-year-olds enter the store. One of thme put some candy bars in his pocket. When they were paying for other items, the cashier demanded they pay for the candy. The four young men assaulted the victim and fled. The case is under investigation.
