The Hess gas station located at 7100 Little River Tpke., near the corner of John Marr Drive will soon undergo a renovation. The company has plans to undergo a remodel to increase the size of the station and build a Dunkin Donuts on the new, bigger site.

Watch Mason District Supervisor Gross discuss the remodel and business development in Annandale at Tuesday's town hall in the above video.

Robert Lawrence with Reed Smith LLP, who is a representative for Hess, told members of the Annandale Central Business District Planning Committee at their Jan. 8 meeting that the site plan for the new, larger station has been approved and renovations could begin as early as February. The company is currently waiting on building permits to begin construction, but Lawrence said Hess wants to begin renovations as soon as possible.

The gas station will remain open until construction begins. It will close temporarily until renovations are complete.

The permit for the Dunkin Donuts has been filed and is in process, according to the Fairfax County's inspection database. Among the 13 permits listed in the database for the site are plans for a new green and white free standing sign and a new gas canopy.

Do you buy your gas from Hess? Are you excited about the new Dunkin Donuts?

I'm happy the gas station is getting remodeled, currently it almost looks abandoned. I don't know well a Dunkin' Donuts will do. I can't imagine anyone passing up Breeze, Le Matin De Paris, or Shilla's to go there.

I hope the remodel doesn't cause higher gas prices there!

A Dunkin' Donuts in Annandale is the best news I've heard in months.

Hope there new landscaping and architectural detail in the design. Those overhead canopies are nice when it rains but otherwise just outright ugly. Wonder if penny will have any input or just shake her head yes

A Dunkin Donuts there will be great! It will be better than driving to the one near Rt. 7 and Columbia Pike.

I think both the renovations and expansion for a Dunkin' Donuts will do well. Hess strives to have some of the lowest gas prices around so I don't think it will impact gas prices.

I'm all for Dunkin' Donuts and a remodeling of the gas station, but a lot of Annandale needs remodeling. We need to get rid of old, run-down buildings and spruce up the 'downtown' area, but most of all, we need more full-service, American family-type restaurants. Donuts are OK for a snack and in the morning on the way to work, but we really need a full-service restaurant, not more fast food.

Love the cheap gas but kinda pricey on smokes. I go to capital cigar and tobacco down the street.

Big deal on a Dunkin' Donuts. Bring back a Denny's, Ihop or a Bob Evans. We have squat here on these types of all day breakfast serving restaurants.
