Mother’s Day Tea

  • When: Sunday, May 13 from 1 – 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Learn about the traditions and proper etiquette of teatime, followed by a full English tea to enjoy with mom.
  • Price:  $27 per person; reservations required

Fairfax Jubil-Aires “A Salute to the Troops and Moms” Concert

  • When: Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The barbershop quartet’s annual spring show will feature guest ensembles “Our Town,” “Sound Advice,” and “Epic.”

Mother’s Day Cruise

  • Where: Lake Accotink Park, Springfield
  • When: Sunday, May 13 at 1, 3, 5 and 6 p.m.
  • Why Go: Take mom for a relaxing cruise on Lake Accotink while you listen to stories about the history of the area.
  • Price:  Moms $5; other adults $6; kids 3 and up $5

Virginia Chamber Orchestra “Sunday in the Woods” Concert

  • Why Go: Featuring compositions by Debussy and Beethoven. Children will be invited to the stage following the performance for an “Instrument Petting Zoo.”

Rhythms Around the World Concert

  • When: Sunday, May 13 at 1 p.m.
  • Why Go: A family event with the Virginia Virtuosi, where you’ll learn about music from around the world.

  • Ponderings - Snakes at Hidden Pond Nature Center, Springfield.  Friday, May 11 at 4:30 p.m.  For ages 6 – 11.  $6 - $8 per person – registration required. 
  • Teddy Bear Picnic at , Annandale.  Saturday, May 12 at 1:30 p.m.  For ages 3 – 8.  $8 - $10 per person – registration required. 
  • Evening Walk at Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria.  Saturday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m.  For adults.  $6 - $8 per person – registration required.
  • Save the Frog Celebration Day at , Annandale.  Sunday, May 13 at 1:45 p.m.   For ages 3 – 10.  $8 - $10 per person – registration required. 
  • Mother Eagles on Mother’s Day at Mason Neck State Park, Lorton.  Sunday, May 13 at 5 p.m.  For all ages.  Parking is $4 per vehicle.

  • Meet Local Author Kristin Levine at Beatley Central Library, Alexandria.  Saturday, May 12 at 2 p.m.  FREE.
