Paisano's Pizza Coming to Annandale
The restaurant will replace the Pelican Seafood restaurant.
Paisano's Pizza is opening up a new location at the former site of Pelican Seafood in Annandale.
According to owner Fouad Qreitem, the restaurant will open in mid-to-late November. Renovations at the location, at 7327 Little River Turnpike, began about four weeks ago. Pelican Seafood closed earlier this month.
Qreitem said residents can take comfort in knowing that the restaurant will be owned and maintained by one of their own; he was born and raised in Annandale and went to Annandale High School.
The restaurant business runs in his family. They owned The Black Orchid restaurant which was open in Annandale back in the 1970s.
The Annandale Paisano’s will be the first freestanding location for the company. The menu, which includes pizza, subs and salad, will be the same as offered at all Paisano’s locations.
There are a total of 16 Paisano's Pizza locations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan and Virginia area. According to the company website, the first Paisano's opened in the Shoppes at Fair Lakes in Fairfax in 1997.

That's the same family that runs Casa d' Mama, almost across the street. Will Casa d' Mama be affected?

Hey Gary, I didn't know that. The next time I speak with the owner, I'll ask him about it. I love Casa d'Mama. Great food.

While I think it's great to see one of Annandale's own open a business that will potentially appeal to more Annandale families, "We need more pizza places (and Asian restaurants) in Annandale," said no one ever. We've already got Papa Johns, Domino's, Pizza Hut, Big Bite, NY Pizza, Flippin' Pizza, Little Caesars, Magills and Casa D' Mamas. Nine pizza establishments, by my count - though I could have missed one or two. Do we really need another one? I'm still hoping for something to fill the void left by Fudruckers' departure.
