Hundreds of skateboarders gathered in Wakefield Skate Park on Friday in Annandale for day one of the sixth annual Skatefest.

The two-day festival, which celebrates Go Skateboarding Day, features competitions for skaters.

The street course was a popular attraction throughout the four-hour long competition on Friday. Dozens of parents and skate enthusiasts lined the gates outside of the park to watch the skateboarders perform tricks in various categories such as "halfpipe jam," "best trick" and more.

Skatefest continues on Saturday with SK8 For A Cause, which is open to skaters of all ages, begins at noon. The top five skaters to raise the most money will receive a prize.

While the event is free for those who wish to watch, it's $30 to register on the day of the event. With registration, participants receive an official event T-shirt. All proceeds go to support SK8 For A Cause and to pay for the event.
