The man accused of assaulting a 17-year-old woman in a bathroom at the Thomas Jefferson Library on Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church is in police custody.
Suspect Kevin Lee Porter, 31, of no fixed address, was taken into custody at his job at a restaurant in the 3000 block of Gatehouse Plaza on Tuesday afternoon. Fairfax County police charged him with abduction and he is being held at the county’s Adult Detention Center without bond.
Lucy Caldwell, a spokeswoman with the county police, said police zeroed in on Porter as a suspect after investigating the case and following up leads.
Porter watched the teen study for hours at the library on Nov. 7, police said. Feeling that Porter was watching her, the woman got up to leave and ducked into a bathroom inside the library and Porter followed her in. The woman said she told Porter to leave but he allegedly refused and when he pushed her, she kicked him and screamed.
Police said Porter ran off when the woman screamed and went on the lam until Tuesday.
