The following items are from recent police updates through Jan. 9 from the Mason, West Springfield and Franconia police districts of the Fairfax County Police Department.
Police Receive 15th Report in Assault Series (red on map), Police are investigating a possible 15th assault incident that took place Thursday, Jan. 3 at around 5:45 p.m. A 30-year-old woman was jogging in the 4400 block of Briarwood Court near Patriot Drive when she saw a man suddenly approach her from Ivymount Court. He grabbed her, she yelled, and he fled. The suspect was white or Hispanic, between 25 and 30 years old, around 5 feet 7 inches tall. He wore a green fleece jacket, dark pants and dark shoes.
In separate and unrelated incidents:
Burglary (green on map), 5:19 p.m., Jan. 7, 4700 block of Commons Drive, A resident reported someone entered his apartment and stole computer equipment, electronics, clothing, and a bicycle. No signs of forced entry. Entry apparently gained through unlocked sliding door.
Burglary (green on map), 10:17 p.m., Jan. 3, 3700 block of Hummer Road, A resident reported that someone forced entry through a rear, sliding glass door and removed jewelry, art supplies, computer equipment, and building materials from the home.

- 4200 block of Annandale Road, beer from business
- 7000 block of Columbia Pike, credit card from business
- 6200 block of Little River Turnpike, gum from business
- 7300 block of Little River Turnpike, cell phone from vehicle
- 4400 block of Medford Drive, cell phone from residence

- 4100 block of Mangalore Drive, 2004 Audi A4
