Popular Springfield Pho Restaurant Moving to Annandale

Pho Cong Ly, which opened over two decades ago in Springfield, will open a new location in Annandale.

Springfield restaurant Pho Cong Ly is moving to the Bradlick Shopping Center in Annandale.

The Vietnamese restaurant, which opened at 6671-B Backlick Rd in Springfield in 1989, will open at 6920-I Bradlick Shopping Ctr next to Arianna Grill and another new restaurant called . Signage for Pho Cong Ly restaurant is already up in the shopping center, announcing its impending arrival.

Pho Cong Ly aims to be a fast-casual alternative to fast food for people willing to pay a little more for good food and service, according to co-owner Adam Tran.

“We want to give people a great experience when they come in and great pho,” said Tran.

Tran’s parents originally managed Pho Cong Ly, but now Tran and his siblings have taken over to carry on the restauran tradition with minor changes. For example, Tran hopes the restaurant will appeal and cater to a broader audience, not just Vietnamese residents. The new location will also have a more contemporary design and expanded menu.

The restaurant is mostly known for their pho and crispy spring rolls. “Nobody makes [crispy spring rolls] like we do… That’s what we’re known for,” said Tran.

On the popular local business reviewing website Yelp.com, the spring rolls are one of the top reasons why several users have ranked the Pho restaurant one of the best in the area. “Best of all, the cha gio (spring rolls) are the best in this area, hands down,” reads one review from 2008 from user Trang O.

In addition to keeping many of the noodles, spring rolls and vermicelli dishes their customers are already familiar with, Tran said the new menu will have a lot more grilled items such as a Vietnamese kabob which is pork, beef or chicken on vermicelli noodles. The same chef who prepared dishes in Springfield will follow the restaurant as it moves to Annandale, so the recipes will taste the same to regular customers, according to Tran.

“We’re also bringing a lot of different noodles that restaurants around here don’t have, “ said Tran.

Tran believes customers will find the prices reasonable and competitive. Meals for one person will cost between $7-$12, but specialized noodles like conch noodles will be slightly more expensive.

Pho Cong Ly is scheduled to open at the end of March. The restaurant will give free promotions to customers such as free Pho, spring rolls and more during its grand opening weeks.
