As a voter in the VA 35th Senate District, I am very interested in hearing how Senator Saslaw justifies his positions. I am very positively inclined to vote for a new face for this district. Robert Sarvis has many good qualifications, and he will help our district get some new ideas.

We can always count on Dick Saslaw to take politics to the lowest possible level. He can't win on the issues so he consistently goes for character assassination, and divisive social issues. I am sure abortion is very important to him personally, but if you actually ask voters you will find the economy and transportation are at the top of the list and social issues do not appear.. It is, after all, Mr. Saslaw who required all northern Virginia senators, inexplicably, to vote against and therefore defeat a bill passed in the House that would have dealt with grid-lock. Much better to talk abortion that traffic, I guess.
Fortunately, the 35th has a choice Robert Sarvis is definitely a winner. If intelligence, good character, understanding of the issues relevant today, and determination are qualifications for the job of Virginia Senator, Robert wins in a walk. Mr. Saslaw's time has passed, and his campaign methods are an insult to the people of the 35th.
Question for Patch. Why was Lolita Mancheno-Smoak not on the poll, and why profiles of only the dems?

Hi Linda, the poll for Mancheno-Smoak didn't save correctly earlier when I created the polls, but it's working now and is added to the options (as of 7:30pm Friday). Patch is still working on interviewing all candidates for all Fairfax County elections for our profiles and will have them all posted before the election on Nov. 8. I don't think we're finished with our School Board profiles and profiles of David Feld and Robert Sarvis will be on the site soon. They're posted as they're completed. Thanks for your comment!

I did film the beginning of the debate where Saslaw and Sarvis talk about BRAC and transportation, but something went wrong during the transfer from camera to my computer for that file and it wouldn't upload with the others. I'm working on a transcript of the audio, but doing so from my Nikon camera isn't very loud and it's a slow process trying to ensure the words are correct. I'll update the article if a) I can provide an accurate transcript, or b) get the unedited file of that portion of the debate to upload here. Thanks for your question!

Why did you exclude Katherine Pettigrew, Phd, from your list of candidates for State Senate? Dr. Pettirgrew is on the ballot in the 35th district.

I want a new senator for the 35th. Dick Saslaw has been in since the beginning of time – a true Senator-For-Life. New ideas, please. New solutions. Let's try Sarvis.

Ditto Lolita Mancheno-Smoak. I've heard this woman speak, and I'm impressed. She's got my vote for At Large school board.
