Back in our poll in 2012, 38 percent of our readers said they'd like to see a Trader Joe's replace Bloom. In addition, 34 percent voted for Wegman's while 22 percent voted for Whole Foods.
What would you like to see occupy this storefront? What kind of business do you think would best serve the community's needs?

It's too small for a Wegmans. It was too small for a Bloom too. I also think that Annandale needs another grocery store as much as it needs another Pharmacy (stupid Walgreens). Maybe Fuddruckers could move in there. Annandale needs a good family oriented restaurant with a varied menu, and enough room for large groups to meet after events.

I chose "Trader Joe's" in the box above, but I'm ALL ABOUT Fudd's coming back!

That would be fantastic!!! And in walking distance from AUMC preschool? They'd do great business there.

I would love to see something child/family orientated. Northern va's only children's museum ? A good family restaurant ? Something to keep all of with small children from leaving annandale every day to do stuff/eat.

The parking at that shopping center is so scant that I worry about any new business going in there and making it worse.

While another sit-down restaurant would be nice, the Bloom is probably a little too big for one. Which makes it awkwardly sized. Too big to be a restaurant, too small to be a grocery store. Perhaps the best way forward would be splitting it into two sites. A few things I wouldn't mind seeing in there:
* Total Wine and Beverage. I know there's one in Lincolnia, but that shopping center is a pain to get in and out of.
* Ace Hardware. It's too small to be a Home Depot or Lowes, but I'd love an independent hardware store in Annandale.
In an ideal world, I'd say Walgreens. Not one in addition to the Walgreens moving into the Fuddruckers site, instead I wish Walgreens, if they were so motivated to move into Annandale, had taken over the Bloom site instead and let the Fuddruckers be.

Trader Joes or a family restaurant (like Fuddruckers for example) would be my ideas. An off-the-wall idea might be a Buca Di Beppo restaurant. It doesn't take up a lot of space and there isn't one in Northern Virgina.

Something family friendly like a restaurant, gym, or otherwise. A local hardware store would be nice too.

A Total Wine would be outstanding, but I would really like to see a Belgian restaurant

Wegmans or Whole Foods wouldn't be appropriate for the socio-economic level of the area. An international grocery store.

They should subdivide the space. I think Anthony's restaurant should consider relocating to this spot. They could add a bar with the extra space they'd have too.

I would love, Love, Love to see a Wegmans around here, but I agree the store space is too small for a Wegmans. I think they could squeeze in a Whole Foods if they got creative enough. (That's what I voted for.) There isn't a Whole foods or a Wegmans very close to this area. I think they would do very well if they opened either of these stores some where in Central Annandale.

There is already a gym in that shopping center. I think Anthony's is a GREAT idea since they're being tossed out of Falls Church. I have friends that know the owners very well, and may see if I can get that idea out to them.

Probably a pretty pedestrian idea, but maybe Buffalo Wild Wings? I love Silverado, but it's not a place I'd go to watch a game and eat bar food. BWW would do great business and get more people into Annandale for something other than Korean BBQ (nothing wrong with Korean food -- I love it. But really.)

I sent a msg to Cracker Barrel a couple months ago ... never heard back, but I love that restaurant with their ol'time country store ... the food is awesome, & its not too far from the Gallows exit on 495 .. not difficult for travelers to get there.
OR ... split it 2 and put in a Krispy-Kreme (!! Yeah!!) and a Baskin Robbins!! Both of those are way too far away to get to from Annandale ... that would be a happy corner!! ... & I'd be there EVERY WEEK!!! ... during my mid-day dog-walking for some excellent energy! :)
Mary's Critter Care of Annandale ... arf!!
