How about a bookstore/coffe shop/bakery/informal acoustic music venue? Would the neighborhood support it?

I miss having a Hallmark store near by, so I would love to see that or a similar card/gift shop! I also agree with CD - a Dunkin Donuts would be another awesome idea!

We could use another oriental restarunt or dry cleaners.

as much as I appreciate Annandale's cultural diversity - I think we do have a good selection in both ( Asian Restaurants and dry cleaners) already. How about either a discount clothing store like TJ Max or a mid priced sit down American restaurant - has anyone checked how very very busy and crowded Siverado's is?

LOL or a bank. Annandale clearly does not have enough banks either.

Wasn't there a frozen yogurt shop on the other end of that shopping center, near Casa d' Mama? Is it still there?

We could use a Potbelly's sandwich shop. It would be a great alternative to all the greasy fast food places around, plus they offer ice cream and milk shakes for those who want an ice cream shop.

How about a bar? Not many local dive bars around.

Carol bless your heart, but those retailers might not be interested in that strip mall.It
would be nice though to be able to buy clothing items without driving to Fairfax or Falls Church....

Several good suggestions. Like Jeanne, I miss having a Hallmark store. Now the closest one is in Springfield, a real haul. But a bookstore/coffee shop would be great too. As would a Potbelly's. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll get any of those. Sigh.

If not an ice cream store, then another Hallmark store. The only reason this closed was because of the loitering by lots of people in that shopping center. They did not feel safe. If this continues then it will be hard to fill that vacancy. Make the people move on. Standing ALL DAY is not looking for work......CONCERNED NEIGHBOR

Perhaps an Apple Store would survive and maybe even thrive in the previous Hallmark or Bloom locations. The closest Apple stores are in Clarendon, Fair Oaks and maybe Tysons. I suspect that there are many other Mac users in this area.
Why not bring some technology to downtown Annandale?
All the other suggestions sound fun and exciting, but if an Apple Store located here, other stable businesses might also consider Annandale.

I would love to see a Dollar General or Family Dollar in that location. We need that kind of store and they really do have a large selection of nice items. If not that, then an American restaurant--we could use more upscale American food places in our area! Too many Oriental establishments now. A Potbellys would be good or an American diner type of establishment.

There is already a Dollar Store in that shopping center. I think an ice cream parlor or even a Jersey Mike's Sub shop would be great in that location. Something other than the Annandale "usual" might attract more of the non-Asian restaurants/banks/dry cleaners to come to Annandale. I'm all for diversity, but it seems these days that if it's not a dry cleaner, Asian restaurant, bank or pharmacy in a location, its then just another empty building.

Since we have lost Fuddruckers and the Sunset Grille in the last month, I think a nice mid-priced sandwich restaurant would be great.

No, I'm thinking something Asian? With Asian writting so we won't know what's there! Yea, that's an idea!

Great ideas, folks~ ice cream shop, Potbelly's, Dunkin Donuts, maybe even a Baja Fresh! Baskin Robbins would be awesome! If not, then another specialty Hallmark store like "Something Special" or a Caribou Coffeehouse would offer a good variety in that plaza.
