West Annandale CVS to Open in February 2013

The pharmacy was originally scheduled to open earlier this year in September.

The new CVS under construction in west Annandale will not open until early next year.

According to Mike DeAngelis, director of public relations for CVS, the store will now open in February 2013 if all scheduled construction goes according to plan.

The original projected finish date for the store, located at 3921 Prosperity Ave., Fairfax, was set for September. The site has been under construction for most of 2012 between Woodburn Road and Prosperity Avenue.

DeAngelis confirmed what he told Patch in June that the store will still be a free-standing, full-service CVS that will include a drive-thru and a 24-hour pharmacy.

The CVS will be the third CVS in Annandale (there’s one at 7205 Little River Tpke., and another in the Heritage Shopping Center at 7859 Heritage Dr.).

It will also be the second new drugstore under construction in Annandale. A Walgreens is planned for the property formerly occupied by Fuddruckers, which closed at the end of April. Construction on the new Walgreens was expected to begin this year, but the Fuddruckers building remains on the property.

I am not sure I could be more disappointed in the Fairfax for approving a CVS in this location. You have a CVS a mile in either direction. I only wish I could have been more entrepreneurial and opened a restaurant/bar, starbucks, or Dunkin Donuts.

Will THIS Annandale have fluent English language speakers behind the Rx counter? -- the other two stores certainly don't! I have all for equal opportunity and diversity in the community, but just like professional airline pilots (and other critical areas) ENGLISH must be THE PRIMARY language for communications -- I have personally had several Rx errors made at CVS.
