DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to present this dynamic exhibit of Marie Bauma
 nn's watercolors inspired by the wildlife of the Galapagos Islands. The 
 details in Marie's paintings are impressive\, bringing the animals to li
 fe on her paintings! &nbsp\;\nARTIST STATEMENT\nMarie has been drawing s
 ince 1994\, and painting since 2006. &nbsp\;She enjoys working in severa
 l media\, including Watercolor\, Ink drawing\, Graphite Drawing\, Colore
 d Pencil Drawing\, and Collage.Her recent works include a watercolor ser
 ies inspired by a trip to the Gal&aacute\;pagos Islands\, and another fr
 om the American Southwest. &nbsp\;Painted on Yupo\, a plastic paper\, th
 ese paintings are luminous with color\, the slippery paper yielding some
 times surprising results. &nbsp\;Marie has incorporated a variety of tex
 turing techniques to make her paintings unique\, drawing the viewer in f
 or a closer look.&nbsp\;ABOUT THE ARTISTMarie is an active member of the
  Arlington Artists Alliance (Arlington\, VA) and Falls Church Arts (Fall
 s Church\, VA). She has exhibited work in many juried shows\, most recen
 tly\, &ldquo\;Think Like a Child&rdquo\; with the Arlington Artists Alli
 ance in the Spring of 2012 and has also received awards such as &ldquo\;
 Best in Show&rdquo\; in the Falls Church Community Center art show in 20
 11.\nMarie regularly takes classes to expand her skills\, techniques\, a
 nd experiences with various media. &nbsp\;She derives artistic inspirati
 on from the natural world\, birds and animals\, family\, and traveling.M
 arie is retired and lives with her husband. &nbsp\;She spends as much ti
