Annandale Field Hockey Wins, Yoga Classes, Talk Like a Pirate Day

Five things to know in Annandale today.

Hope you have a great Tuesday, Annandale! Here's a quick roundup of things to keep in mind today.

  1. Annandale High School's varsity field hockey team beat Washington-Lee High School 3-2 Monday night.
  2. New Fairfax County Police Department Chief Col. Edwin Roessler will speak to county residents at a countywide Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be in the A-level conference room of the Massey Building, located at 4100 Chain Bridge Rd. in Fairfax.
  3. In case you missed it, the Braddock Road Youth Club donated $400,000 to W.T. Woodson High School for two new synthetic turf fields.
  4. Yoga classes will now be offered at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 6362 Lincolnia Road in Alexandria just outside of Annandale. The classes, which are organized by Inova Health System, start today and will meet every Tuesday until Nov. 19. The class lasts from 9:30-10:45 a.m. The cost for the class is $130. Details here.
  5. Avast! Talk Like a Pirate Day is Thursday. Celebrate at the Patrick Henry Library, where they’re hosting a Talk Like a Pirate Day Variety Show with stories, songs, puppets. The event is at 2:30 p.m. at the library on 101 Maple Avenue East.
