Grammy-Nominated and Local Violinist Jenny Oaks Baker Releases New CD -- Tribute to Classic Rock

Grammy-nominated musician Jenny Oaks Baker is a world-renown, highly acclaimed recording artist and concert violinist.  A first violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra for seven years, she also has recorded twelve CDs, many charting on Billboard’s classical chart including the #1 spot for classical albums.  Jenny now releases an all new tribute – Classic: The Rock Album.

Featuring classic rock favorites such as “Stairway to Heaven” (Led Zeppelin), “Sweet Child of Mine” (Guns and Roses), and “Yesterday” (The Beatles), this accomplished violinist combines her talent with the heart-pumping tunes that have defined a genre for generations.

Jenny Oaks Baker began playing the violin at age four, and made her solo orchestral debut in 1983 when she was only eight years old. She received her Master of Music degree from the renowned Juilliard School in New York City and her bachelor's degree in violin performance from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.

She has performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Strathmore Hall, the Library of Congress, as, and as a guest soloist with the Jerusalem Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Utah Symphony, the Orchestra at Temple Square, and the internationally acclaimed Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Over the years, Jenny has collaborated with such luminaries as Gladys Knight, Kurt Bestor, Marvin Hamlisch, and the former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Jenny performed as a first violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra for seven years before resigning in 2007 to devote more time to her young family. Her albums collectively have sold more than a quarter-million copies. Her album Wish Upon a Star (a tribute to Disney tunes) earned a nomination for the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Pop Instrumental Album.

Jenny, her husband Matthew, and their four children reside in Annandale.
