Annandale Marching Band Visits Wakefield Chapel for Annual Halloween Parade

The band has participated in the community tradition for over 40 years

The marching band participated in the annual Chapel Square halloween parade on Saturday, Oct. 22 following the .

According to the AHS student newspaper, The A-Blast, the Halloween parade has been a tradition in the community for 44 years. The first time it was held was in 1967.

Parents in the Wakefield Chapel neighborhood listed the parade as one of the reasons they disagreed with the Annandale Regional Study recommendation from Fairfax County Public Schools to move students from Wakefield Forest Elementary School from the AHS pyramid and over to Woodson High School in Fairfax.

Many of the parents support the Marching Atoms and AHS with donations and look forward to the parade every year. he was concerned the community tradition would die if they were zoned for Woodson instead of AHS. The Fairfax County School Board on July 28.
