Annandale Resident Phillip Sandino Receives Accolades for Volunteer Work

Sandino was one of three Dominion Virginia Power employees recently recognized for their volunteer service this year.

Annandale resident Phillip Sandino was one of three Dominion Virginia Power employees to be recognized this month for outstanding volunteer service to community organizations in Northern Virginia.

Sandino, a customer solutions director in Herndon, was recognized on April 18 by the power company for his work as a Cub Scout master of Pack 873 and as a volunteer for the Virginia Latino Higher Education Network where he works on fundraising projects to award scholarships to deserving Latino students. Additionally, Sandino also helps fellow employees in packing and delivering supplemental food packages to ensure that students who receive free or reduced-price lunches during the week.

In addition to Sandino, Clifton's Le-Ha Anderson, media relations manager for Dominion, was honored recently for her work in raising the profile of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce

“Le-Ha has gone above and beyond the call of duty, with a willingness to lend a helping hand whenever asked,” said Cindy Shao, president and founder of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce. “Her charm and demeanor have earned her the gratitude and respect of our members. Her volunteer nature is contagious and inspirational to many.”

Anderson was honored on April 5. Anderson is credited with with making successes of the chamber's annual Awards Gala and Taste of Asia event.

Herndon's Peggy LeReche, a Dominion administrative assistant at Dominion, was honored for volunteerism at FISH (Friendly Instant Sympathetic Help) at their annual gala on April 20. She is currently on the FISH board of directors.
