Annandale Treasure Trove Celebrates 50th Anniversary

The store sells gently used and vintage clothing, jewelry, furniture and other home items.

Around 50 community members and volunteers joined INOVA Fairfax staff Thursday night to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Annandale Treasure Trove store.

The Annandale store is one of three Treasure Trove Thrift and Consignment stores in Fairfax County. The other two are located in Springfield and McLean (which is 55 years old). The Springfield store will celebrate its 10-year anniversary next week.

The store sells gently used and vintage clothing, jewelry, furniture and other home items and are operated by the Auxiliary of Inova Fairfax Hospital. All proceeds from purchases at the store go to support the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.

“We’re very proud to get to 50 years. We’re proud of the work we do here and of our volunteers,” said Jodi Shannon, Treasure Trove manager for Inova.

Volunteers and community members enjoyed finger foods, shrimp cocktails, cake and "mocktails" as they mingled with each other and shopped.

The new pediatric ambulance that the store helped purchase was available for viewing in the parking lot in front of the store. According to Neil Shoolts, physician transport for Inova, the ambulance is about two-years-old and has an extended back, making it longer than the average ambulance. The increase in size allows the ambulance ample room for personnel and allows up to two stretchers inside. The ambulance seats six in the back and also features a small television, which can be used to entertain patients who are awake and may need to be distracted during transport to the hospital.

To celebrate the anniversary, the store will host a sale beginning Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 21.

The Annandale Treasure Trove is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.treasuretroveannandale.com.
