Annandale Viewfinder July 21: Spotlight by Starlight Concerts

A gallery of photos taken around Annandale this week.

One benefit of being close to Washington, DC, is that it is easy for the country's military bands to schedule performances in our area. In addition to a concert by pianist John Eaton, both the Army and Navy put on great shows at Mason District Park this past week. The Army Band Downrange had Sunday's audience dancing and swaying, and though the crowd was expecting the Navy Sea Chanters on Wednesday, nobody was disappointed with the wonderful music performed by Country Current, a bluegrass ensemble.

Wednesday evening's audience also had the opportunity to see the 'National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in the Field of Park and Recreation Management' that the Fairfax County Park Authority won in the fall of 2010. Treated like the Stanley Cup in hockey, the award is being displayed throughout the county with one stop at each concert venue.
