Annual Watershed Clean-Up Day Returns on Oct. 13

Volunteers will remove debris from local parks as part of an international day of clean-up.

In two weeks, several Fairfax County Park Authority parks will participate in the International Coastal Clean-Up Day, or the Annual Watershed Clean-Up Day.

The Park Authority invites volunteers of all ages to help clean the watersheds in the community on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Families, girls and boys scouts and other community groups are also encouraged to attend.

  • Hidden Oaks Nature Center (Roundtree Park – Holmes Run), 703-941-1065

Debris such as tires, bottles, cans and more are often removed from local waterways. Volunteers are encouraged to wear boots, gloves and old clothes o clean. The parks will provide bags.

To help, residents can call one of the above parks to reserve a section of the watershed to clean on Oct. 13.
