2. Wildlife Wednesday- Life in a Log

Where/When: Hidden Pond Park, 8511 Greeley Blvd, Springfield 22152/ Feb. 16, 2011, 4:30 p.m.

Why Go: A naturalist from the park will teach kids ages 2-7, where to look for creatures that live inside these hidden habitats.

Pricing: $4 in county, $6 out of county

3. Opening weekend of Oklahoma

Where/When: - 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax 22030/Feb. 18-26, 2011 Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Support Fairfax High School’s drama club the FX players in their performance of Oklahoma. The whole family will enjoy this Rodgers and Hammerstein musical centered mainly around the question of who will take Laurey Williams to the box social--the decent Curly McLain or the sinister Jud Fry.

4. National Pet Adoption Weekend

Why Go: Looking for your next four legged family member? Nutro is giving away their products to families that adopt a new pet this weekend. While looking at the adorable dogs and cats available for adoption you may want to bring the family pet to the low-cost vaccination clinic or identify your pet with micro chipping.

5. Northern Virginia NTRAK Display

Where/When: , 11200 Fairfax Station Rd, Fairfax Station, 22039/ Feb. 20, 2011, 1 p.m.–4 p.m.

Why Go: NTRAK is an international grass roots association of model railroaders which has created a set of standards that anyone may use to build N Scale modules, or layout sections. This Sunday you will have the opportunity to see a full train display close up with running model trains.
