Grab & Go Kids Planner: Feb. 9

Check out these kid friendly activities to try out with your kids this weekend

It is almost Valentine’s Day and love and culture are in the air. We have found events this weekend that will make the whole family fall in love, with fun!

Chinese New Year Festival

Where/When: Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road in Falls Church, Saturday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Why Go: There will be live cultural performances including the famous DRAGON and LION dance. Experience Asian cuisine and enjoy workshops on Chinese cooking techniques and crafts.

Teen Valentine’s Day Dance

Where/When: Bailey's Community Center, 5920 Summers Lane in
Falls Church, Friday, Feb. 11 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Why Go: There will be a dance-off, DJ and refreshments! Teens ages 13 to 17 are invited to dress to impress in their best black and white outfits.

My Winter Valentine

 Where/When: Kings Park Library, 9000 Burke Lake Road in Burke, Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m

Why Go: Bring your little Valentine to listen to stories and sing songs about love presented by Barbara Effron of Storytime Express. This event is for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents.

8th Annual Lunar New Year celebration at Fair Oaks Mall

Where/When: Grand Court, Fair Oaks Mall, 11750 Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, Feb. 12-13 from 1 p.m to 5 p.m.

Why Go: The whole family will enjoy watching 200 performers from 11 countries ring in the "Year of the Rabbit, 4709." The Washington Hai Hua Community Center has lined up singers, dancers and various artists along with kung fu demonstrations, a lantern festival and other cultural activities.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Where/When: 269 Sunset Park Dr. in Herndon, Saturday, Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.

Why Go: The play opens with Goldilocks at The Enchanted Forest Kiddie Camp. The other children tease her about her "not so gold" hair so she runs away. This play will teach children about tolerance and diversity.
