Green Spring Gardens Celebrates Cherry Blossom Events in April

Events are scheduled for April 5, 6 and 12. Registration is required.

In partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Green Spring Gardens will hold three programs to celebrate the beauty and history of the cherry blossom.  You'll be able to celebrate the season by painting a paper lantern, going on a cherry tree hunt in the gardens, learning about Japanese influence on Western fashion at a tea program or sampling new foods.

Children and families will enjoy visiting different learning stations at Green Spring Gardens. Hear a story, try your hand at origami and chopsticks, paint a Japanese style lantern, and seek out our beautiful cherry trees on our cherry tree hunt.   This Children's Cherry Blossom Festival program is a drop-in program that runs from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 and is $10 a person.  Advanced registration is recommended.  Families can register online or call Green Spring Gardens at 703-642-5173.  This program is designed for families with children ages five and up.

On Sunday, April 6, adults can enjoy a tea at the Japonism in Fashion program, highlighting Japanese influence on Western fashion. View gorgeous avant-garde designs that combine Japanese motifs with 19th-and 20th-century Western silhouettes. See elements of the kimono in tea gowns and opera coats and hear about Japanese designers who are redefining fashion worldwide today. This program runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and is $29 per person. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 703-941-7987.
