Saturday, May 28
What: Annandale's own is hosting Memorial Day celebrations all weekend long. Tonight at 9:30 p.m., the Grille and the Southern Fried Music Association invite all to come out and support wounded vets with them until early Sunday morning.
Sunday, May 29
What: The festivities continue at Sunset Grille with an all-day event, starting with a barbecue at 11 a.m. (until 5 p.m.). Cactus Liquors will perform from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Shirkaday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Jammboxx from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Memorial Day, Monday, May 31
What: The Annandale American Legion Bicentennial Post 1976 will place flags on the graves of the Veterans buried in the at 9 a.m.
Afterward at 11 a.m., they will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the Island Cannon in Annandale at the intersection of Backlick Road and Columbia Pike between Fuddruckers and Jiffy Lube. Fairfax County Chairman Sharon Bulova will be the guest speaker for the event and offer remarks.
Participants are invited to join members of the Post back at their homebase for refreshments following the ceremony.
What: Also happening on Monday, the will hold a special Memorial Day Holiday Bingo. There will be a free dinner for all bingo players. Doors open at 4 p.m. and early bird starts at 6:15 p.m. For full details, see the AVFD Facebook page.
