Paul Michael's Hair Salon to be Featured at D.C. Fashion Week

Annandale hair salon will style over 70 models for the popular fashion event

One of Annandale's hair salons will be featured in this year's D.C. Fashion Week. Paul Michael's Hair Salon, located at 6653 Little River Turnpike, will showcase next season's bridal collection and hairstyles at the show alongside many of D.C.'s fashion elite. The event, to be held from Sept. 20 to Sept. 26 at various locations around D.C., is one of the largest showcases of fashion apparel in the area and will display clothing from over 50 designers.

"It's our first time participating," said hair stylist Erica Liercke. "We are headlining the Bridal Collection Show on September 20 at the Textile Museum. We'll be managing the hair of about 30 models; there are 70 models total the entire week, men and women," said Liercke. "We are going to do clean and sleek looks. Styles include the classic low bun, romantic curls, half up half down. Paul will put his finishing touch on all the models before they hit the runway."

Owner Paul Michael opened his business at its Annandale location in 1996. "Fourteen years ago, Annandale was an up-and-coming area. Opening a shop here gave me the opportunity to establish myself," said Michael, who has over 20 years experience in the industry and is a certified colorist and stylist.

Clientele at the salon has been growing steadily ever since. Back in 2006, the salon was nominated on WUSA 9's A-list as one of the Best Hair Salon's in the Washington, D.C. area. Michael says the key to his success has been his service philosophy of "beautiful every time."

Everyone who visits Paul Michael's Hair Salon receives personalized attention from one of the stylists.  After learning about the client's lifestyle and desired hairstyle, the stylists choose a hairstyle that will meet the client's needs.

The salon also offers a wide range of hair treatments from wash, style, cut, to perms and to highlights, their most popular service. Additional beauty services include facial waxing and the salon uses and has a number of hair care products available for purchase such as Brocato, Biolage, Paul Mitchell, to name a few.

"Paul does an excellent job and he's very creative," said long-time customer John Mason. "I've been coming here probably 14 years and I wouldn't think about going anywhere else."

Aside from D.C. Fashion Week, the salon also plans on participating in a couture show in D.C. later this month on Sunday, Sept. 26 at the French Embassy.
