The Fairfax County Animal Shelter and Deepwood Veterinary Hospital offered a rabies clinic at the Mason District Government Center on Sunday.

Annandale residents took advantage of the sixth rabies clinic sponsored by the and . Fairfax County officials last month reported they had seen 32 rabies cases in the county this year so far—primarily among raccoons (19 of the cases).

The line of pet owners started growing long before the doors opened just after 2 p.m Sunday. Most of the patients handled the ordeal in complete silence, but there was an occasional squeal or growl by an indignant pet.

In partnership with the office of Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross, the clinic offered rabies shots for $12, and dog owners could also purchase 2011 dog licenses for $10.
