School Closures, Delays in Annandale, Fairfax County

A list of what's open and closed in our area on Sunday.

Update: 5:57 p.m.

Annandale and the Washington, DC area saw some snow on Sunday, and the winter weather is expected to continue through Monday morning.

Here's a look at some of the known closures in and around Burke for today and Monday.

MONDAY


All Fairfax County public schools will be closed on Monday, Dec. 9, according to the FCPS website.

Administrative offices will open at 12 p.m. The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled:

  • extracurricular activities
  • interscholastic contests
  • team practices
  • field trips
  • middle school after-school programs
  • professional learning and training courses
  • all adult and community education classes
  • recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
  • School Age Child Care (SACC) centers.

SUNDAY


Fairfax County Public Schools

All FCPS activities scheduled in or on school grounds were canceled Sunday after 12:30 p.m. including: 
  • extracurricular activities
  • interscholastic contests 
  • team practices 
  • field trips
  • professional learning and training courses 
  • all adult and community education classes 
  • recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS

Libraries

All Fairfax County Public Libraries, including the George Mason Regional Library, are closed Sunday due to inclement weather. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.

I'm sure you don't know, but do you think they'll closed NVCC? I drive about 30-45 minutes to get there.

Hi Amanda, Still no word yet on NVCC. I've been checking their website and social media accounts and haven't seen anything about their status tomorrow.
