Springfield Swim Team Parodies Macklemore's 'Thrift Shop'

Watch: A swim-themed parody video created by the Ravensworth Ravens, a Virginia swim team from the Ravensworth Farm community, goes viral.

What do you get when you combine a group of Springfield kids, a pool and a song by rapper Macklemore? A pretty amusing parody, it turns out.

Various kids from the Ravensworth Farm neighborhood in Springfield, located just outside of Annandale, teamed up to record a parody of Macklemore’s popular song “Thrift Shop” and turn it into a swimmer’s anthem.

The parody, titled “At the Pool,” features many swim-themed lyrics such as “walk up to the pool, like what up, I got a big cap. I'm so pumped, I'm about to swim a lot of laps,” as well as lyrics that display some neighborhood pride, “I wear these Ravens clothes, I look incredible, I'm in this real nice pool down on Inverchapel Road.”

Many of the children featured in the video are part of the Ravensworth Ravens swim team, which includes more than 150 swimmers. The Ravens went undefeated this season and won the division six title, as well as the divisional relay carnival, according to the Ravensworth Pool’s website.
