Supervisor Cook, Local Charities to Host Domestic Violence Awareness Fundraiser Thursday

The fundraiser is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Kilroy's restaurant in Springfield.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. To help raise awareness about the repercussions of domestic violence in Fairfax County, Braddock District Supervisor John Cook and two local charities, Shelter House’s and Fairfax CASA, will host a fundraiser in Springfield Thursday.

The fundraiser is from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Kilroy's, located at 5250 Port Royal Rd. in Springfield.

The goal of the fundraiser is to raise awareness about the realities some people face in their own home from domestic violence. Domestic violence can lead to homelessness, injury, and in some cases even homicide.
