It's been a pretty bumpy ride the past few weeks with snow, ice and bone-chilling temperatures and this week is no better. Temperatures take a dive beginning Monday night in Northern Virginia and stay there through Thursday. Snow is not currently in the week's forecast.

On Sunday night, the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang said they are keeping an eye on a storm that could bring snow to the area on Wednesday.

Here's the "deep freeze" timeframe:
  • Monday: High near 35 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures plunge to 4 degrees Monday night with wind chill values as low as -5.
  • Tuesday: Partly sunny with a high near 17 degrees. Wind chill values could go as low as -8. Winds 8 to 13 MPH.
  • Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9. Northwest wind around 5 MPH, becoming calm.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 22.
Temps start to warm on Thursday, cracking through the freezing point to 33 degrees. By the weekend? In the 40s.
