Weekend Planner: A Family Friendly New Year

Ring in the New Year with various events happening in our local area this weekend.

- When: Saturday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m.
- Why Go: Proceeds to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Bull Run Regional Park. Refreshments will be provided at the end of the race, as well as prizes and a gift drawing.
- Price: Registration is $28 ($30 on day of race)

- Where: Old Town Fairfax (starts and finishes at the corner of Main Street and University Drive)
- When: Saturday, Dec. 31 at 6 p.m.
- Why Go: The four-mile course will loop through Old Town Fairfax. Pizza will be served and awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m.
- Price: Registration is $35
- Where: Old Town Alexandria,
- When: Saturday, Dec. 31 from 1 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.
- Why Go: Enjoy 100 indoor and outdoor musical performances, children’s face painting and activities, a “Fun Hunt”, a laser light show at midnight, and more. Click on the link for details about times and locations.
- Price: $20 per badge for adults; kids 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult with a badge

- When: Saturday, Dec. 31 from 7 p.m. until midnight
- Why Go: Highlights include: live music and dancing, face painting, moon bounce, Velcro wall, firepits for warming, and much more. There will also be free popcorn, hot chocolate, and soup while supplies last. A free shuttle bus will run every 30 minutes from the East Falls Church Metro Station until 1:00 a.m.

- Why Go: Celebrate the New Year with Vishaal Mata Chowki, performed by a renowned Jagran Mandli from Canada.
