The weekend is upon us, and Patch is here to help you make the most of it.  Check out our list of the top events happening in the local area this Friday through Sunday. 

Annandale Fall Festival and Parade

  • Where: 7414 Little River Tpke. (Safeway parking lot), Annandale
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: Whether you enjoy live music, delicious food, arts and crafts, puppet shows, parades, or all of the above, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for at Annandale’s Fall Festival this weekend. Annandale Patch is running of the festival and parade and will have all day coverage on Saturday.
  • Price: Admission is FREE.

High School Varsity Football Home Games at South County SS, Lake Braddock SS, and Annandale HS

  • Where: SCSS, 8501 Silverbrook Rd., Lorton; LBSS, 9200 Burke Lake Rd., Burke; AHS, 4700 Medford Dr., Annandale
  • When: Friday, Oct. 21; all games start at 7:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: AHS will honor senior football players on Friday night, while SCSS and LBSS will be playing their homecoming games. Please click on the provided links for a complete list of pre-homecoming game parades and activities.
  • Price: Admission varies. Please contact your local school for details. 

South Run RECenter’s Annual Arts and Crafts Show

  • Where: 7550 Reservation Dr., Springfield
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: More than 50 artisans will display their wares this weekend at South Run RECenter’s Annual Arts and Crafts Show. Some of the items for sale will include: jewelry, woodworking, photography, glasswork, dolls, pottery, and more. Activities and crafts will be available in the field house for children ages 4-12 while parents shop. You will also receive $1 off admission when you bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Lorton Community Action Center.
  • Price: Adult admission is $3; children 12 and under are FREE.

Northern Virginia BrewFest

  • Where: Bull Run Regional Park, 7700 Bull Run Dr., Centreville
  • When: Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: This beer sampling festival will feature more than 50 breweries, as well as a wide variety of food, non-alcoholic beverages, and cigar vendors. Local bands will provide live musical entertainment, and there will moon bounces and other kid friendly activities for families attending with young children. With your paid adult admission you will receive a beer tasting glass and four tastings. Designated drivers will receive unlimited water and/or Old Dominion Root Beer. Order your tickets in advance online to save $5 per admission.
  • Price: $25 for adults (21+) at the gate; $20 for designated drivers at the gate.  Children 15 and under accompanied by an adult are free; youth ages 16-20 accompanied by an adult must purchase a designated driver ticket. 

Virginia Chamber Orchestra Presents: “Bravo Mozart”

  • Where: , Ernst Cultural Center, 8333 Little River Tpke, Annandale
  • When: Sunday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Sunday’s performance will be conducted by Music Director Emil de Cou. Mozart selections will include: Overture to The Magic Flute; Concerto for Flute and Harp, featuring guest artists Aaron Goldman and Susan Robinson; and Symphony No. 41 in C (Jupiter).  Artwork by painter Cherry Baumbusch will also be on display. After the concert, guests are invited to stay for a complimentary reception.
  • Price:  Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door.  Senior admission is $18. Student admission is FREE.
