Sydney Wuhrer

  • Age: 8 years old now, but on the 4/24 (Easter), she will be 9 years old
  • School:
  • Accomplishment: Sydney has received the “Academic Achievement Award” twice and is a dedicated member of her community and participates in various activities. On May 1,  she is doing a 5K “Run for Rescues”
  • Key to Awesomeness: When her mom Anne Wuhrer asked Sydney this question, she answered "my awesomeness comes from my inner self." The middle of Anne's children, Sydney has participated in a mini-triathalon for Lincolnia Park Pool and Recreational Club for the last three years.

Like her mom, Sydney works to help dogs in need and this past weekend, she was the assistant to a photographer that did Pet Portraits for Charity, which raised money for dogs that were being illegally shot in a Chesterfield, SC animal shelter. According to Anne, one of the things Sydney is most proud of is helping her friend, Ethan, who used to be scared of dogs,  who she now describes as ” fearless and awesomely awesome with dogs of all sizes now”.

Sydney also takes piano lessons, supports er brother and sister with their soccer and lacrosse teams. She is a member of her community swim team and plays tennis all summer. In addition to all of that, she is a huge Harry Potter fan and caretaker to her hamster "Chicken Nugget”. Her immediate goals are to be a mothers helper and learn more about chemistry.

"As her mom, I am very proud of her. She has fully embraced helping dogs in need. She attends transports where dogs come up from high kill shelters, carries home scared and previously unloved puppies. She gives them baths and feeds them," said Anne. "She has gone to many different rescue adoption events  and helps introduce the puppies and dogs to people to help find them homes. She walks and cares for the foster dogs in her home by taking them for walks, giving them love, and feeding them."
