Annandale Florist to Close Dec. 31

The longtime Annandale business has been in business for more than 50 years.

After 57 years in business, the Annandale Florist will close its doors at the end of the month.

Owner Gary Sherfey said he plans to retire. The store’s final operational business day will be Monday, Dec. 31. Until then, Sherfey said it will be business as usual at the shop as they prepare orders for the holiday season.

"It's been great having an opportunity to service the community,” said Sherfey.

The family-owned Annandale business has served the Annandale community for five decades. Sherfey’s parents, Mable and Gilbert, opened the shop in 1955. He began working for the store full-time in 1970.

The family will remain in Annandale (Sherfey and his wife Pat live one mile from the store), even though the store will not. Sherfey said he’s looking forward to doing mission work and the downtime that comes with retirement.

“I’m so happy to have had so many loyal and nice customers to work with over these last years. I just really appreciate everyone's patronage," said Sherfey.
