Blockbuster Leaves Annandale, Permits Approved for New Tenant

The Annandale Blockbuster store closed this month. So what's replacing it?

The Annandale Blockbuster Video at 7448 Little River Tpke., officially closed this month and it looks like a new business has already leased the now-vacant property.

According to the Fairfax Inspections Database Online (FIDO) system, a permit for a new interior layout for an Advance Auto Parts store was processed on Tuesday by the county for that address. The system also shows that a zoning plan for the layout was reviewed and approved.

Zoning Plan approval is one of the first steps in a lengthy process businesses go through when applying for permits, according to a representative in the county Office of Planning and Zoning.

Annandale already has an Advance Auto Parts store, located at 6960-O Braddock Rd., in the Bradlick Shopping Center.

A representative for Blockbuster Video told Patch Wednesday that the Annandale store, which was located in the Little River Shopping Center, closed once they sold most of their merchandise in the closing sale. Back in January, it was reported that Blockbuster planned to close over 300 stores. The Annandale closing sale started in February.
