Buenos Grill Restaurant to Close on Friday

The restaurant opened in Annandale last October.

After just nine months, Annandale's Buenos Grill restaurant plans to close its doors this week.

The restaurant's final day will be Friday, Aug. 30, a manager confirmed to Patch. The decision to close was attributed to underperforming sales.

Buenos Grill, which was described as serving "fast-casual Mexican" food, opened on Oct. 30. The property was the former location of a Shell gas station.

The road to opening in Annandale was rocky for the restaurant from the start, with building permit issues and then Hurricane-turned-tropical-storm Sandy delaying the restaurant's opening.

An open date was originally planned for on July 2012, but permit issues delayed the restaurant’s grand opening for months. When Sandy hit, the October grand opening was pushed back two days while power was restored to the area.

Buenos Grill's owner Charles Lee was unavailable for comment. Lee also owns Annandale Catering, located on Tom Davis Drive.
