New Assisted Living Facility Planned for Annandale

Brightview Senior Living hopes to open a 95 room facility on Gallows Road.

Brightview Senior Living plans to open an assisted living facility on Gallows Road in Annandale.

The 95 room facility would be located at 3450 Gallows Road and is in the early stages of planning. The facility, once built, would have 72 assisted living apartments and 23 memory care apartments, which would feature specialized care for those with Alzheimer’s.

“There’s an aging demographic, so people really recognize those needs,” Senior Development Director Andrew Teeters said.

Brightview Senior Living is currently hosting a variety of meetings in surrounding communities to gain resident input into the potential project. If the plans are approved, the facility will take an estimated 12 to 14 months to complete.

“We’ve contacted the home owner’s association presidents and written letters and they’ve helped us to disseminate the information throughout the community,” Teeters said.

The facility would be located across from the Holmes Run Pool. No official proceedings have been started with the county yet and Teeters said Brightview Senior Living will continue to meet with the community and seek opinions throughout this summer.

Brightview Senior Living is a division of The Shelter Group and is based in Baltimore, Md. The company currently operates 24 different communities across a variety of states. The only community currently in Virginia is located in Staunton, over a two hour drive from the Capital.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Woodburn Elementary School, located at 3401 Hemlock Drive in Falls Church.

Editor's note: A previous verson of this story indicated tonight's meeting was at Canterbury Woods Elementary School. The meeting will actually be held at Woodburn Elementary School.
