Pelican Seafood Restaurant Closes

The restaurant opened in March and was in business for close to six months.

After only six months of business, the Pelican Seafood restaurant that opened in Annandale has closed.

The dine-in and carryout restaurant opened in March, hoping to attract residents with its affordable Szechuan and Hunan cuisine.

Manager John Ouwang told Patch back in July that the restaurant was doing pretty good when he was interviewed about how Pelican Seafood fared following the power outages caused by the derecho storm. Ouwang estimated the restaurant lost between $2,000 and $3,000 in food and revenue due to the power outage.

The reason for the closure is not known. Several calls over the last week to the owners have not been returned.

Good riddance. Is there any reason why we can't get a quality restaurant instead of these chow dumps? You could tell by the way it looked from the outside that it was low budget poor quality food. What a sad state of affairs. The town of Annandale is a place that many of us residents pass through to get elsewhere to have a nice meal. Being back Topps Drive Inn.

I'm working on finding out what's being planned to replace it. I spoke with one of the workers when I stopped by the other day after noticing the windows were covered, but haven't heard from the new contractor yet. I'll update the site when we have that information.

I ordered from there once and the dumplings were good but the rest of our meal was not so I never ordered from there again.

The reason it closed was the food and the false advertising. They touted the restaurant as "SEA FOOD!!" when in fact it was Chinese restaurant that had some sea food dishes. I went there with my family and was disappointed at the selection of ocean fare. The fried Oysters were FROZEN, "formed". mass produced looking items - they were not good at all. And the featured "crab" was way over priced as was lots of the other food. Bad business plan, but he was a nice guy.

I went when in when it first opened and the crabs were great. I kept meaning to go back. :(

Ginger was found! It took a humane trap to do it, but she is now safe & sound at home in FallsRead More Church. It was, in fact, thanks to this very notice that she was found!
