This week, we've selected the vacant lot beside at 7130 Little River Tpke., the former site of the
Back in January, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for the fire damaged property. The property is for sale by the owners.
So what would you like to see at this property? What kind of business do you think would best serve the community's needs and fit in with the existing stores on Little River Turnpike?
Take our poll or tell us in the comments!
Annandale has turned from a quaint little village to a big kitchen! I'll vote for anything but another pharmacy and restaurant! How about a good gift/Hallmark shop to replace Something Special? Or a place where children, as well as adults, can dabble in the arts, such as a pottery studio.
If the bike proposal comes to fruition, perhaps a bike store would be appropriate. In my comments to another "what would you like" email, I suggested it would be nice to have an Apple Store (Mac). Realizing that those type businesses usually stay around malls, it might be a dream, but... nothing ventured, nothing gained. I wonder if an AC Moore or Michaels could survive in the downtown Annandale location???? They are usually connected to other stores. Since Bloom went out of business, it would be nice to have at least a convenience store in the downtown area. It would have to be convenient to get in and out. That would mean the location could not be by Giant (the Antiques Emporium site is too close to Giant but there are other nearby vacancies). Hmmmm.... do we have a Visitors' Center in Annandale? We certainly have some history in Annandale. Perhaps a Visitors' Center could provide basic information, walking tours, sell historical books and videos, etc. Tour busses that stop at McGills for lunch could first stop at the Visitors' Center. Because it is on Little River Trnpk, there should be tour traffic to and from Alexandria. If it were well thought out and large enough, the space might be rented for receptions, seminars, etc.
