What Will Replace the Annandale Sport & Health Club?

The longtime gym announced last month that it was closing due "to changing market conditions."

Since announcing its closure in May, the Annandale Sport & Health Club has given Annandale residents much to talk about regarding the future of the property once the gym closes on June 30.

There have been rumors that indoor soccer fields will replace the fitness club, which opened in Annandale more than 30 years ago. However, there are no permits for soccer fields or other activity for that location filed with Fairfax County as of June 21.

A representative with Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross’s office also confirmed to Patch that there are currently no site plans on file for the property with the Land Use or Zoning offices.

Calls to Sport & Health inquiring about the club’s sudden closure were not returned. In a statement posted on the Annandale club's website, the only reason CEO and President Mark Fisher offers is that the decision to close the club was "in response to changing market conditions.”

Tell us, Annandale: Would you support soccer fields replacing the Annandale Sport & Health Club?
