Boy Scout Troop 1532 Celebrates Unveiling of New Annandale Sign on Gallows Road

On Saturday, Nov. 2, local Boy Scout Troop 1532 held a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new sign on Gallows Road in Annandale. One of the Boy Scouts, Matthew, worked with the Virginia Department of Transportation and Mason District Supervisor Penny Gross’ office to obtain permission to install the new sign for his Eagle Scout Project. During the project, Matthew and his troop rehabilitated a VDOT right-of-way adjacent to Gallows Road and I-495, and installed the new sign and a flower bed. On Saturday morning, Matthew’s Boy Scout Troop, parents and local officials gathered to celebrate the unveiling of the new Annandale sign.

Supervisor Penny Gross joined representatives from the Annandale Chamber of Commerce, Camelot Homeowners Association, VDOT and Transurban at the event. A 495 Express Lanes Community Grant from Transurban-Fluor funded the sign project. The Transurban-Fluor 495 Express Lanes Community Grant Program supports organizations that sustain, enhance or protect the local environment and neighborhoods.
