Motorists should expect lane closures to continue in the Braddock Road area as crews complete ramps and advance work on the new HOT Lanes connection."

Also in place by evening rush on Friday, Aug. 12, VDOT crews will open the new northbound Gallows Road (Route 650) bridge over I-495 with two lanes of traffic in each direction and restore access to I-495 north according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

According to a press release, "the restored I-495 north access includes the left turn lane and traffic signal from southbound Gallows Road.

Motorists should expect lane closures to continue prior to the Gallows Road bridge as crews perform curb and gutter work along southbound Gallows Road until late August.

Leading up to the bridge southbound traffic will have one through lane and the right lane will continue onto I-495 south until all curb and gutter work is complete.

When curb and gutter work is finished, two through lanes approaching the bridge on southbound Gallows Road will be restored.

As part of the Capital Beltway High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes Project, crews began rebuilding the northbound Gallows Road bridge in May 2010 under an accelerated schedule. As a result, the new bridge is opening 10 months ahead of the original schedule."
