Five Things: Cross Country Kick Off Relay, September Arrives

Five things you need to know today, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011

  1. Goodbye August and hello September! Five more days until school is back in session for Fairfax County Public Schools.
  2. Today is the PR Kick off Relay at Bull Run Park and the and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology cross country teams are both participating. 
  3. The Thomas Jefferson Colonials also have their first home varsity game of the season tonight at 7 p.m. We'll have photos from the game and the Back to School Bash on Friday. They're also unveiling their at the Bash.
  4. It will be mostly sunny today with a high temperature of 84 degrees.
  5. This weekend is Labor Day weekend. Did you know the first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882 in New York City?
