Five Things: Thurgood Marshall Becomes Supreme Court Justice, Annandale and TJHSST Golf

Five things you need to know today, Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011

  1. There will be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Braddock Road and Little River Turnpike today at 10 a.m. Annandale Patch will have photos up following the ceremony.
  2. It will be slightly hotter with a mix of clouds and sun. The high temperature around 83 degrees. 
  3. On this day in 1967, Thurgood Marshall became the first African-American to be confirmed as a Supreme Court justice.
  4. Both the and Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology golf teams have games today. The TJ girls play and the AHS boys face Woodson, T.C. Williams and South County Secondary.
  5. Del. Vivian Watts (D-39), Del. Kaye Kory (D-38), and Del. Jim Jim Scott (D-53), all representatives of Annandale, are participating in the event tonight in Vienna. Patch will have video from the event this week.
