No CAC meetings for summer, bikini introduced to the world

  1. It'll be partly cloudy today with some light winds and a high temperature of 89 degrees.
  2. Here's a fitting fact for summer. On this day in history in 1946, French designer Louis Reard unveiled a two-piece swimsuit that we know now as the bikini.
  3. Since it's summer, we want to remind residents that the Citizen Advisory Committee meetings for Mason District, Franconia District and West Springfield will resume in September. There are no meetings in July and August.
  4. The School Board work session on Monday, July 18 when they will discuss the changes now has a 9 a.m. start time according to a Keep in Touch update from June 30.
  5. On this day in 1975, Arthur Ashe became the first black man to win the Wimbledon singles title.
