Flag Day and more

  1. Today is Flag Day! On this day in 1777, the Continental Congress approved the design of a national flag. For a history of Flag Day, check out .
  2. If you have an old flag you'd like to dispose of, all Fairfax County Police stations now have bins in the lobby areas where you can leave the flags. The Annandale American Legion Bicentennial Post 1976 also has a box where you can dispose of your flags.
  3. Cooler temperatures should stick around for most of the week. Today's high temperature will be 76 degrees with sun early on and then a few clouds in the afternoon. 
  4. Also on this day in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed an order that added the words 'under God' to the Pledge of Allegiance.
  5. Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Braddock Hall, there will be a community information meeting about the short-term and long-term upgrades to mitigate traffic along the Danbury Forest/Wakefield Chapel intersection.
